U7 (Renfrew Minor Hockey)

U7 program

The U7 program is a progressive, learn-to-play hockey program. It is a Hockey Canada program that introduces the basic skills of hockey in a fun and safe environment and focuses on the development of skills in a non-competitive environment. Players learn through participating in practice drills and informal modified games. The focus is on skill development and fun without the pressures of winning. All U7 fun game match-ups will be played in cross ice/half-ice format.

For more information on the U7 program, please use the Hockey Canada and Hockey Eastern Ontario links below.

The game of hockey is for kids. Kids play the game because they love it and because it is fun. As parents we must all realize that, for kids, positive participation is always more important than excellence. The personal and social development that comes from being part of a team is one of the most enriching experiences offered by the game. We must continue to live the values of fun and fair play, respect, integrity and teamwork with a balanced perspective of expectations and definition of success. We must celebrate our good experiences with this great game.

Registration fees

We have returned to 3 installments for those families who wish to not pay in one lump sum.

The installment schedule will be as follows:

50% of registration fee plus full payment of any extras (evaluation jersey, fundraising fee, etc as applicable) due on date of registration.

25% of registration due September 20th

25% of registration due October 20th

For those wishing to pay in installments, you may pay with either post-dated cheques or a credit card on file. For those wishing to pay in full you will be able to pay with cheque, Etransfer or credit card. There will be no installments available for those wishing to pay with Etransfer.

  • Fundraising fee
This is paid at the time of registration. The fundraising fee has increased to $100 per player for the season. If you choose not to pay the fee, it is mandatory that your player participates in two fundraising endeavors through RMHA – such as TAG Day and selling raffle tickets. If you pay the fee, you will be exempt from having to participate in fundraising activities during the season.

Additional Team fees

Throughout the season, you should expect a few additional expenses that will be handled by your team manager

U7 1st year teams - $10 name bar and $20-25 home tournament fee

U7 2/3 year teams - $10 name bar, shared cost of 2nd Fun Day (approx. $20-30 each) and $20-25 home tournament fee

The main fundraisers for U7 teams are their home tournament and the 67s experience. Team fundraising is not permitted outside of this.

Home Tournaments

Home Tournaments are a lot of work and require a significant amount of planning and support of volunteers. The team managers for each division will run their own home tournament. Volunteers are essential to running a successful tournament. Parents will be asked to volunteer for shifts at raffle tables, bake sale etc. Managers will collect a home tournament fee to help with the expenses of preparing for and running a home tournament. All proceeds from your home tournament go back to your team to offset the cost of away tournaments, team activities and year end gifts/party.

Respect in Sport

If you have completed the course for another child, you are required to sign into your account and add your new players. Please ensure that you are choosing Renfrew MHA as the association.
